Rhea Ripley Crowned NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion At WrestleMania 39

Rhea Ripley has dethroned the Queen to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Ripley defeating Charlotte Flair marks her first time capturing the title and ends Flair’s reign at 92 days. The match went on as the match right before the main event. Arguably the match of the night, Ripley and Flair laid everything out … Read more

Rhea Ripley Victorious Over Bayley; Carmella Misses Raw; Asuka Finally Attacks Belair

On the March 20 episode of Raw, we witnessed a couple of matches from the women as we are just two weeks out from WrestleMania 39.

The Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley who will face Charlotte Flair at the big event went to the ring to cut a promo. She promises to defeat Flair at Mania and become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Her promo was interrupted by Damage CTRL who heckled her and let her know that Raw belongs to them. This led to a match between Ripley and Bayley. In this match, Ripley would have to take the babyface role despite her current character.

Once Bayley was able to maintain some offense and take control of the match, the Women’s Tag Team Champions Becky Lynch and Lita along with Trish Stratus make their way out to the ring. Lynch with a giant bag of popcorn just to witness the match. This distracts Bayley severely despite having both Dakota Kai and IYO SKY at ringside. The trio who arrived were able to keep the rest of Damage CTRL at bay long enough for Ripley to hit the Riptide and get the big win over Bayley keeping her looking strong for Mania.

A backstage segment took place between WWE’s resident Karen, Chelsea Green with Adam Pearce. Pearce was attempting to explain the WrestleMania Showcase matches when Green approached him. Green let Pearce know that for whatever reason, Carmella was not present for their tag team match tonight. This led Green to take matters in her own hands and wanted Piper Niven as her partner who was with her. Green states that if Pearce doesn’t allow this to happen she will go to the manager. Niven replaces Carmella in the tag team match.

That match was against the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and her WrestleMania opponent Asuka. Yes, they did the “can they co-exist match.” It turns out they were able to co-exist as Belair and Asuka would pick up the win after Belair pinned Niven after a KOD.

Post match, Asuka finally attacked Belair for the first time since their “rivalry” started. This left the Raw Women’s Champion laid out in the the ring to end the segment.

The fight between Otis or Otise continues to go between Maxxine Dupri and Chad Gable. Otis would accompany Gable to ringside for his match, however, Dupri would come out to take Otise away from the ringside area.

Lita & Becky Lynch Crowned NEW Women’s Tag Team Champions, Trish Stratus Returns

We have new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions just five weeks before WrestleMania 39!

And if you asked me who that would be even a month ago, I wouldn’t be able to even fathom that it is WWE Hall of Famer Lita and Becky Lynch! Lita and Becky Lynch defeated Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO SKY) in the main event of the Feb. 27 episode of Raw to become champions. This ends Damage CTRL’s reign at 115 days and this is the first time both Lita and Lynch have won tag team gold.

This is Lita’s first championship since 2006.

If this wasn’t enough, fellow Hall of Famer and bestie of Lita, Trish Stratus made her return. She would come out in the last few minutes of the match as Bayley was doing everything she can to try and have Damage CTRL retain. Stratus came out and targeted Bayley. The final moments of the match had Lita going up top for a Litasault but Bayley hopped up on the apron to stop her. This led to Stratus pulling down Bayley. Kai on the other side tried to stop Lita as well but was taken down by Lynch. Lita was able to execute her Litasault on SKY and get the three-count crowning new champions.

Lita, Lynch, and Stratus celebrate in the ring as pyro goes off to end the show.

There were two other women’s matches on this week’s Raw.

Piper Niven took on Candice LeRae. LeRae made her way out to the ring with Nikki Cross creeping behind her. Cross stayed at ringside for the match. This match didn’t get as much time as the other two women’s matches but progressed the storyline a bit with Cross being taken out by Niven when she tried to get involved. This caused too much of a distraction for Niven so LeRae picked up the victory. LeRae rushed to the back after the match without Cross who was laid out at ringside.

Asuka also took on Carmella this week and for the first time in a singles match, Asuka has been able to defeat Carmella. This match was given a nice bit of time and was a solid match – giving Carmella a lot of offense. Unfortunately for Mella, she wasn’t able to break out of the armbar submission that Asuka has been using to take out all of her opponents since returning at the Royal Rumble.

Post-match, Asuka called out Bianca Belair. Belair responded and made her way to the ring. However, the talk between the two didn’t last long as Carmella would attack Asuka from behind, pushing her into Belair and knocking them both down.

Moments later, we see that Chelsea Green was in Adam Pearce’s office. She was complaining that she was sent to Ottawa, Illinois last week instead of Ottawa, Canada. She asked Pearce how she was supposed to know there was an Ottawa, Canada, but Pearce reminded her that she is from Canada. Carmella would come in to interrupt.

Pearce received a phone call he had to take but told Carmella that she would face Belair next week. Then, Carmella and Chelsea introduced themselves to one another. Both seemed to vibe with one another and liked each other’s style.

Maxxine Dupri continues to scout Otis. Backstage, Dupri told Otis that he needs to get a match and she would be at ringside for him. He got a match against Johnny Gargano, but would end up losing the match after Dexter Lumis appeared to take care of Maximum Male Models who were trying to take out Gargano at ringside.

Xia Li Assists Damage CTRL To Retain The Women’s Tag Team Titles

On the Dec. 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Damage CTRL successfully retained their Women’s Tag Team Championships after defeating Liv Morgan and Tegan Nox. However, they did have some help, and not just from Bayley.

The match opened the show and the two teams put on a solid match but it reached its conclusion after Nox had a moment with Bayley at the time keeper area. Nox dumped Bayley over the barricade in order to remove her from the situation when a woman in a hoodie kicked Nox. The assailant would be dragged to the back by security immediately after the attack.

This allowed IYO SKY to get Nox back in the ring, deliver a moonsault, and pin her to retain the tag titles for Damage CTRL.

A little later during the show, a WWE Exclusive appeared on WWE’s social media. It would show the hooded assailant being brought to the back as Adam Pearce would reveal who it was that attacked Nox. It would end up being Xia Li. Pearce would order her to go to his office, but there was no follow-up on this for the rest of the show.

Other women from this episode includes Zelina Vega, Valhalla, and B-Fab. Much like last week, all three women were at ringside for their respective stables. There was a triple threat of Hit Row, The Vking Raiders, and Legado del Fantasma to determine the number one contenders for the men’s tag team titles.

During the match, Vega would get involved as she hit Ashante Thee Adonis with a head scissor takedown. B-Fab delivered a bicycle kick to Vega knocking her out of the ring before Valhalla kicked B-Fab in the throat. Both B-Fab and Valhalla were on the outside by commentary when Vega would launch off the second rope and lay out Valhalla.

Lastly, Raquel Rodriguez would be interviewed backstage. She confirmed that she would be in the Gauntlet match set for next week to determine the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Shayna Baszler and current SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey would appear and attack the already injured Rodriguez.

Alexa Bliss Becomes Number One Contender; Asuka Hints Character Change

Alexa Bliss is the new number one contender for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship. A date for the Bliss vs. Belair match was not announced.

She took on Bayley to start off Raw this week and came away with the victory after delivering Twisted Bliss. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Dakota Kai and IYO SKY accompanied Bayley to the ring. However, Becky Lynch arrived and attacked both Kai and SKY taking them out threw the crowd and away from the ring prior to the match starting. Belair came out to ringside to watch the match.

After Bliss picked up the victory she went to give Belair a hug in the ring and caught the Raw Women’s Champion in Sister Abigail. She wouldn’t execute the move releasing Belair as the two backed away from one another. Just before the Sister Abigail tease, the Bray Wyatt symbol appeared on the big screen behind Belair.

The second match of the night was the advertised Candice LeRae taking on IYO SKY. The two have a lot of history from NXT and LeRae was looking to finally get a win over SKY.

Prior to the match, LeRae had a backstage segment with Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis. For another week, Nikki Cross appeared behind LeRae spying on her. SKY would end up winning the match after delivering her moonsault. Damage CTRL celebrated in the ring following SKY’s win. LeRae is still winless against SKY in singles matches.

Lastly, the third women’s match had Asuka taking on Rhea Ripley. Although we have seen this match recently, this time felt different as Asuka came to the ring and wrestled without her normal face makeup on. During the match, commentary brought up Asuka’s recent Twitter postings being unusual. For those who have not been caught up, Asuka has been posting her prior to WWE character Kana frequently on social media since last week.

Asuka would take the loss in this match after she spit mist in the face of Dominik Mysterio. This allowed Ripley to deliver the Riptide.

Becky Lynch Brawls With Damage CTRL; Candice LeRae Returns

The Monday Night Raw after Survivor Series WarGames opened up with the woman who won the WarGames Match for Team Bianca – Becky Lynch.

After embracing the WWE Universe, Lynch made her way out into the crowd and started incorporating them into her promo confirming that she is the man of the people. Shortly after, Bayley came out to address her. While Lynch was still in the crowd, Bayley and The Man exchange words back and forth getting the crowd members involved.

This takes place until the rest of Damage CTRL (IYO SKY and Dakota Kai) attack Lynch. As Bayley joins, the three-on-one assault escalates up to the merch stand until all parties involved are pulled apart by officials.

Directly after this, a small video of Rhea Ripley is played before she comes out to face “Michin” Mia Yim. The two rivals who participated in WarGames just 48 hours ago were putting on a stellar match until Judgment Day and The OC got involved which caused a no-contest finish. This then turned into the four-on-four tag team match that was highly anticipated between both factions.

Much like Yim vs. Ripley, this match was also very well received and it included the women even briefly interacting with the men instead of acknowledging mixed tag team rules. The result would come down to Yim and Ripley (as it should) with Ripley picking up the win for Judgment Day off of Riptide. This was after Yim bodyslammed Finn Balor and then targeted Dominik Mysterio.

Moments later, a video was shown about Candice LeRae and how she was taken out a month ago by Damage CTRL. She is back and was walking down a hallway backstage. She was stopped for an interview where she addressed Dakota Kai in particular because she had a match with her later in the night. While LeRae was walking down the hallway, Nikki Cross was hiding as we saw her peek out to take a glance at LeRae.

As stated, LeRae and Kai have a match later in the night. The match was given plenty of time and showcased both women very well. LeRae started the match quickly by attacking Kai when she was making her entrance. Bayley and SKY would attempt to come down to the ring to help but were sent to the back so there was nobody out at ringside. Despite Kai pulling out many moves in her arsenal including the scorpion kick, she wasn’t able to get the victory. LeRae defeated one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions with a top rope neck breaker.

Finally, three women from WarGames we hadn’t seen yet were Asuka, Alexa Bliss, and the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Commentary stated that due to the WarGames match, the three women weren’t cleared to compete. They also said despite Bayley and SKY being involved in the brawl earlier in the night, they were also not cleared to compete on Raw. SKY had on a neck brace during the brawl.

There was a backstage interview with Asuka, Bliss, and Belair where they were commenting on WarGames and including Becky Lynch as the final member paying off for their team. Belair stated that every plan Damage CTRL had backfired since SummerSlam. She also would say she is happy to put all of that behind her. Before they began to speak, the Wyatt 6 symbol appeared on the screen behind them. Bliss was checked out during the interview and not engaged. After Asuka spoke, Cathy Kelley asked Bliss if she had anything to add. After clearly being zoned out during the interview, Bliss woke up and said she agreed with what Belair had to say.

Mia Yim And Rhea Ripley Added to Survivor Series WarGames Match

The teams are almost fully set for WarGames on Nov. 26 as more of the field was announced on this Monday’s Raw.

Joining the team of Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY) and Nikki Cross will be Rhea Ripley and to counter that joining the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss will be Mia Yim. This completes the team of Damage CTRL and leaves on spot left open for Team Belair.

Yim joined Belair’s team after rejecting Damage CTRL’s advances. Once Yim did join the opposite team, Ripley knew she is who Damage CTRL and Nikki Cross needed.

The matches of the night started with Tamina taking on the returning Mia Yim. Yim would be victorious in her return match. During the match, Rhea Ripley and the Judgment Day would be at ringside to get a closer look at Yim. Yim would get the win off of Eat Defeat. After the match, Yim and Ripley would have a staredown before Ripley backed away.

The second women’s match was one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions IYO SKY as she faced Dana Brooke. Brooke had a WWE Exclusive where she spoke about all the work she has put in only for the 24/7 Championship to be thrown into the trash can by Nikki Cross. SKY would pick up the win on Brooke after delivering her moonsault.

Later in the night, Team Belair responded to Ripley joining Damage CTRL and Cross.

Survivor Series WarGames Takes Shape; Nikki Cross Wins 24/7 Title

WARGAMES!

Now that Crown Jewel is over, Survivor Series hosting WarGames is the next and reportedly last premium live event of the year. On the Nov. 7 episode of Raw, the field for the women’s WarGames starts to take shape. We already know from the Survivor Series video that the match will be five-on-five. With a total of 10 women in the match we know of seven confirmed names.

The Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair along with Alexa Bliss and Asuka first entered the ring to address what took place at Crown Jewel. Belair was the last woman standing to retain her championship, however, Bliss and Asuka’s reign as tag team champs was left extremely short when Damage CTRL took back the gold.

Damage CTRL would interrupt Belair, Bliss, and Asuka. The two teams would trade words including an argument between Asuka and IYO SKY in Japanese. Bliss would also add that the only reason why Dakota Kai and SKY won the gold back was because of Nikki Cross. The six women would erupt into a brawl before Belair confirmed that they will end this once and for all in WarGames.

Cross would then enter the ring and give the numbers advantage to Damage CTRL as they laid out Belair, Bliss, and Asuka to end the segment.

Later in the night, Cross was seen backstage with Damage CTRL seemingly joining them as the fourth member of their WarGames team. She took on Dana Brooke for the 24/7 Championship and captured the title. With Brooke left in the ring, Bayley would place the championship belt on the shoulder of Cross as the four walked up the ramp.

Moments later, Cross was seen walking with Damage CTRL as she tossed the 24/7 Championship in the trash can (well it fell down next to the trash can).

Also on this week’s Raw, Mia Yim returned and joined The O.C. to combat Rhea Ripley and The Judgment Day. More on that can be read here.

There were separate backstage interviews from The O.C. and The Judgment Day separately about Yim’s return. After Ripley was done with her interview, she ran into Belair on her way to the ring. They shared glances with Ripley acknowledging Belair as champ.
